Dear Ursula and folks at Boxer Rescue,
We adopted Socks from you in 1996. We just wanted to let you know that she has moved on to doggie heaven.
Socks was always a great eater, and loved her snacks and treats. Around the beginning of this year, though, she began to be pickier about her food and not eating as well as usual. Over the summer we began to notice it happening with more frequency, so we took her in to see her vet. They ran some tests and put her on a different diet and some medication for her stomach. She did well for about a month, and then alarmed us by refusing to eat at all. Another blood test and x-rays showed the possibility of inflammatory bowel disease. We decided to take Socks to a specialist, and the tests they ran showed that she had intestinal lymphoma. Our family was very saddened by the thought of losing Socks at such an early age (she was probably only 7 or 8). We discussed together the options for treatment, but Socks decided for us. On Monday she stopped eating and drinking and was very weak and lethargic. It was as if she was telling us, "It¹s time." We lost her on September 11 now this day will have even more memories for us.
Socks was a great dog loyal, loving and a good friend to us all. Each one of us had a very special relationship with us. We will all miss her. Thank you for the opportunity you gave us to have her be a part of our lives.
