In Loving Memory Ohana

Our little girl passed peacefully from this world today in her mommy and daddy's arms. We enjoyed a trip to the park this morning and then our trip to the vet revealed lung cancer. She was also in a great deal of discomfort when the vet tried to feel her abdomen and bowels. We made the decision to allow our little girl to pass to the Rainbow Bridge before she felt anymore pain. I've attached 3 pictures of our little angel that I took this morning.

Ohana,

Just over a year ago Mommy and Daddy remember seeing you on BRLA's website. At that time your name was Peanut and you were looking for a home. We knew some how you had to come to us, we would foster you and find you the perfect family. You were adopted from BRLA and we thought we'd never meet you but then you were returned due to tumors being found. BRLA took care of you and removed your tumors and your mommy was lucky enough to come down to BRLA on March 12th 2003 just after your surgery and bring you home. During the next couple of weeks you learned that people aren't as scary as you thought, you learned to play with toys and play with other dogs. You began to open up to us and wormed your way into our hearts and our lives. The results came back from your biopsy, cancer. We both knew what we were going to do, we knew after such a hard start to life you deserved the best life possible. You deserved to know love, kindness and a family so it was decided that you would stay with us. You needed a new name, a name that suited you so we named you Ohana which from the movie Lilo and Stitch means "no one gets left behind". Over this last year you have showed us more unconditional love and affection then we could have ever shown you. You have been the most loyal dog, never for a minute not showing how much you love us. No matter what your tail was always wagging and in the end when it wasn't, we knew you weren't well. You always had a look on your face, that made us think you were smiling and you always seemed to tell us everything is going to be alright. We're going to miss your cuddles and your slobbery wet kisses. I'm especially going to miss that little devil who would chase my ankles and bite them. Only mom you did that to and I loved it (although I acted sometimes like I didn't). Ohana, your name means "family" and I hope you know you had one that loved you more then life itself. I hope you know we're all going to miss you so much and that letting you go has left a huge hole in both your mommy and daddy's hearts.

God bless and we'll see you soon,
Mommy and Daddy!
