Nikka - 03/06/2006

Today I had to make the hardest decision I have ever had to make.. I had to let my little Nikka go to the Rainbow Bridge this evening.

She hadn't been doing too well, she had lost 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks and she wasn't really eating. She also couldn't get around much. We think she may have had a series of seizures or strokes. She has so deteriorated when I got home from work this afternoon to take her to the vet, that I decided the kindest thing for her was to let her go.

I rescued Nikka 10 years ago in January from Ursula at the Encino Vet as a companion for my other boxer, Max. She was about 2 years old at that time...a 50 pound little spitfire. Within a few weeks of getting her, she had eaten her monnie's couch..among other mischief!!! I called Ursula and almost gave her back

I am so thankful that Ursula talked me out of it. This little girl was my pride and joy for the past 10 years. She helped me through my divorce, and has been the best girl anybody could have..all 50 pounds of her!!!

She readily adapted to my "other" Max and then, a couple of comths ago, to my Biffer-dog!!! Nikka loved snuggle with her mommy in bes..going head first under the covers(fortunately, she was not a gassy boxer!!!) ...and on the couch. I will miss her terribly.

Nikka...Run free and healthy and play with Max until I see you both at the Rainbow Bridge. Mommy - Mindy
