Lola - Sept 2006
We picked Lola from the crowd at the Boxer Rescue about 4 years ago. I remember walking her up the street at the rescue, and there was an instant connection. My wife and I fell in love instantly, and took her home with us. Lola, we called her Loli, was our little gem of a boxer dog. We took her everywhere, she loved everybody, everyone loved her, and she was the love of our lives.
Lola would go crazy when we would come home. Her bootie would wiggle continuously, she would spin in circles when we were about to give her her food, she ran circles around the back yard growling at a soccer ball, and she would get cozy with us at nap time or bed time. She loved to curl up like a little cinnamon bun.
About three years after we adopted Lola, she suddenly and unexpectedly got really sick with cancer in the pancreas. The tumors depleted her blood sugar levels, and caused seizures. We took her to the vet immediately. Tests were run, surgery was conducted, and she came home with a little bit of hope for survival. This was not so. One week later the symptoms came back, and our trusted vet told us that there was not much left that she could do. The cancer had simply taken over. We had to make a very hard decision.
My wife and I decided that we needed to take our little Loli out of her misery. We knew that she was not happy. We played with her for the last time, and stayed with her until her last breath. It was the hardest thing ever. We still cry to this day when certain little things remind us of her. Lola was the best friend ever, and we will never forget her. We are so thankful for the life-long list of memories that she gave us during the short time that we had together.
We miss you Lola.
