For those of you who were not lucky enough to get to know Jackson, let me tell you a little about this fawn Boxer with the piercing golden eyes.
He was that trouble making, cropped eared scamp who Martina, his foster mom, would bring up on adoption days. He would bark at all of the otherpotential adoptees, putting on his best dog aggression act; The Brando of canines.
Of course, when he clocked out around 5 O'clock, he was back to being his sweet self, heading down the 405 to his real home in West LA to hang out with his best buddy Otis and their pals Petey and Garth.
Martina was always perplexed about Jackson's poor performances on adoption days. My response was always the same. "He knows he's YOUR dog."
Martina would momentarily let her guard down and crack a conspiratorial smile, before launching into a semi-rehearsed spiel about what fostering was all about.
Well, as beautiful as Jackson was on the outside, unfortunately he was not a healthy pup. About a week before he died, Martina decided to make it official and adopt her boy. On the day that he passed away, Martina admitted, "You were right, he was my dog."

I wanted to let you know that we lost another Boxer baby today. Sweet Jackson went into surgery today and when Dr Galea opened him up he was filled with cancer. Martina was told that the humane thing is to let him go.
Jackson came to BRLA in March. Martina saw that Jackson needed to be fostered and stepped up to help. Wayne and Claudia were so kind and offered to become his medical sponsors for his "Hernia" operation; that turned out to be a tumor and a huge cyst. Jackson was very happy that they did this for him.
Jackson has been an angel and loved to play with the "wild man" Otis. Jackson could not have been more loved and Martina did everything to keep him healthy and happy. I want Martina to know how her kindness in taking in dogs with medical needs is so appreciated by us all. I know she is mourning and will miss him so much as he was an angel. Jackson got the best - he had Martina to love him.
Jackson is now running the skies with Martina's other babies Garth and Tonka. Martina, thank you for taking in the weak because you are so strong.
We will all miss dear Jackson
HOLD IN YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THIS THOUGHT:
NEUTERING JACKSON WHEN HE WAS YOUNG COULD HAVE PREVENTED
THAT CANCER THAT TOOK HIS LIFE.
