"DOMINO" a little, 10 months pup, a fawn with a natural tail... a pound rescue... A swollen front leg with a cyst on the elbow, another cyst on his hips ...x-ray revealed. The cyst (skin tumors) were attached to the bone; prognosis poor; BONE CANCER! One more time we crawled into his cage at the vet, loved him up and said goodbye .... This little brave Trooper is now in doggie haven... 4 -- 2000
"SNOW WHITE" one of our placements (Age 3), returned a year later by the people who bought a house from the people we placed the dog with. Since these people didn't want her (she still had our rescue tag) they brought her back to us (Thanks Good for that) A huge grapefruit size tumor dangling down from her chest... again PROGNOSIS POOR Cancer, very difficult to remove and closing the huge gap. Again, we were advised And sadly said good-bye... 4-2000
"PRINGLE" a sweet shelter rescue with wonderful flashy white markings over the fawn body and a natural tail, age 8 months. Very thin, got spayed through the shelter program and waiting to be adopted at our rescue kennel. Kathy and Tom our beloved boxer rescue caretakers called our office that little Pringle wasn't doing well, we had her 3 weeks. Another visit to the vet. She was throwing up, couldn't keep the food down and showed serious neurological signs pointing to a possible case of distemper. She was checked in on a Friday and was dead Saturday morning .... Fought a courageous battle all by herself. .. If only an owner had taken care of basic puppy shots; the little precious girl would still be here .... We only hope that this little soul knew "someone" cared... Boxer Rescue gave her that chance.4-2000 distemper confirmed 5-2000
"DANNY" a very laid back dark reddish fawn, age 1. So laid back that we started wondering what could possibly be wrong with him .... A shelter rescue. He was so lethargic, no energy and slept a lot... a visit to the vet with blood work, x-ray revealed nothing was wrong, at least according to the lab. After 3 days of observation and nothing new, we picked him and adopted him out. The new owners were told of vet check. 10 days later we got a frantic call from Danny's new owner that he had 2 grand mal seizures, lost his vision and control of body function and their vet advised to have him put too sleep .... We all were devastated ...the only consolation is that he didn't die in loneliness at the kennel but was very much loved until the end .... He will always have a little piece our hearts .... |
