"BELLA"It does not happen often at BRLA, but our beloved Bella passed away before finding someone to foster or adopt her. We were devastated. She came to us with failing sight. She had a very hard time at the kennel with all of the noise and not being able to see what was happening. Our volunteers took special care of her and would spend lots of time loving here and making her feel safe and secure. It was the morning after a freak thunder and lightening storm that she was found distressed in her cage. She was rushed to the vet but she died shortly after. It could have been a stroke or heart attack caused by the fright of the storm. Winter is coming and it is extremely hard on our seniors and special needs dogs to endure the harshness of the season. Had Bella been in a foster home, she could have been consoled and could possibly have survived. We need people to consider fostering our seniors and special needs dogs sooner than later. What time these boxers have should be quality time and that means in someone’s warm home and heart. Please consider fostering a senior or special needs boxer before it’s too late. 10-2005

"RUDY" Another wonderful trooper went to boxer haven on Friday...his name is Rudy, a very gentle big white giant...He was a shelter rescue from Baldwin Park rescued by one of our wonderful volunteers Jackie. Paperwork said age 10. Hard to tell, he was all white...beautiful blue eyes....but the toothless mouth gave it all away! His personality won all the volunteers hearts , a sweet, gentle soul! He was very run down but in no time nursed him back to health and he was ready to go into his forever permanent foster with our volunteer Mindy to join her senior boxer gal. However sadly to say, it was not meant to be.... 11-2005
