CHIP

As a rescuer my family is very fortunate to watch the happy endings that rescue brings to a homeless boxer and to their new families.  To watch as families meet their new best friends, hug them, kiss them and love them for the first times it always brings tears to our eyes and makes us so happy.  We know not only is the boxer happy to be going home finally but the families are happy to have their new addition.

Unfortunately as a rescuer we do occasionally see the painful side of rescue as well.  So many of our rescue babies are sick, broken or unloved.  With time, love, patience and veterinary care they are made whole and move on to their new homes but occasionally despite our best efforts there's nothing we can do, we are unable to make them whole, we are unable to save them.  Nothing we could do, would do, or do do would save a boxer in our care and that was our Chip.

Chip arrived in our care on Mar. 21st from Boxer Rescue LA.  He was named Chip due to an old injury in his leg that had left him with an unrepairable bone chip that occasionally made him limp.  When I opened his crate he greeted me with a wagging tail and kisses.  For the next 4 days Chip enjoyed love, play time with our boxers and another foster, all the cookies he could eat and the attention we could give him.  He was a true boxer ambassador, as sweet as they come and as lovely as can be.  Chip passed away sometime in the night of Mar. 24th.  He went quickly, quietly and peacefully.  He passed from a large tumor that was sitting quietly in his lung.  The tumor ruptured and within seconds Chip was gone.

We have had so many difficult days in rescue but today might be one of our hardest.   Run free little Chip.  Know that you had a foster family who loved you and a forever family who had not met you but will always remember you.
