Canyon

"...I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." - Matthew 25:40

From Canyon's Foster Family:
Signs are posted that abandoning of animals is punishable with $1000 fine or jail time, but nevertheless, we saw Canyon in the beams of our headlights by the side of road when we drove up Little Tujunga Canyon one night a few weeks ago. When we returned shortly after with food, water and a blanket, provided from our relatives, another good Samarian was also already on the scene. She told us how she had noticed the Boxer the day before and how much she was traumatized by a former dog bite, but there she was with a can of dog food ready to help. Canyon seemed grateful for the water, but he never touched any of the food and we decided to take him to the Chatoak Emergency Clinic. Right away he was put on an IV, but the doctor told us because of Canyon's miserable condition she was not able to diagnose him any further that night.

We took Canyon home and cooked a rice and chicken dinner for him, but he barely licked some cottage cheese from our fingers. That night he looked so peaceful sleeping wrapped-up in the blanket that he touched our hearts forever.

Fortunately another patron at the emergency clinic told us about the Boxer Rescue L.A. and Ursula came and picked up Canyon the next day. We are so grateful that Canyon was in such good hands for his final days because of the unconditional care from the Boxer Rescue and the loving treatment at the East/West Veterinary Clinic in Thousand Oaks.

From BRLA:
We would like to thank Dr. Karen Martin and the staff of East/West Veterinary Clinic for their caring and compassionate treatment of Canyon. They nursed him for three weeks with home-cooked meals and heart-felt love. Despite their heroic efforts, Canyon could not be saved and he peacefully crossed the bridge during the night. A gentle soul, Canyon touched the hearts of everyone who met him.
