Bubbles
For My Best Friend
The Bubbles was a most special friend. She was rescued in the pouring rain on New Year’s Eve Day in 1999. What a wonderful girl to be a part of our family. Having a special needs child dictated the need to be extremely cautious in the selection of a rescue dog. Who knew the tolerance she would exhibit and the love she would share with our family. The Bubbles had many medical issues but the vet said she made the perfect Sesame Street “Letter C” in her twists and turns. Throughout the years there were many fabulous stories such as bringing “dad” a prize bird by his side of the bed, running out of the doggie door with the In & Out Burger Bun, hyperventilating when in the front yard and seeing another dog walk by ….. Oh, the many stories and special times. Where oh where have the last six years gone. My friend – I believe that would make you eleven years old – or so… Your tolerance in the bathtub, the endless medications, your one tooth that would never really become white even with the chicken tasting tooth paste, we miss you with our hearts.
The last year was difficult for the Bubbles. A growth behind her stomach indicated cancer and the arthritis was temporarily under control with the Prednisone. My friend could no longer conceal her pain. Even with the occasional roll around on her back and the nibble-noo that looked like a crocodile, it became too difficult to walk and by looking in her eyes, it was time to rescue her again. So in the pouring rain on Monday March 6th she was rescued once again. Our hearts are empty. We miss her so.
With Love,
