Amtoo

We adopted our beautiful Amtoo on April 1, 1995 from BRLA.

In the beginning Amtoo was pretty skittish around people and didn't like fast movements. We suspect he had been treated terribly by whoever owned him prior to us. He was prone to panic attacks and would even urinate if he was startled or thought he had done something wrong. After about a year and much love and kindness, Amtoo finally decided that nobody was going to hurt him and became a loving, trusting, and faithful companion. After all the neglect and mistreatment he must have endured, Amtoo didn't have a mean bone in his body. All he wanted was to please and would do just about anything for a good neck scratch or even just a pat on the head.

About three years ago Amtoo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Our vet told us that it was best just to keep him and love him for whatever time he had left. Well, three years later, he was still doing pretty well and never once complained. He put up a brave fight but succumbed to his illness on Saturday, May 29, 2004. He was loved up to and through his last breath and we like to think he was happy and content. Amtoo gave us so much joy and love while he was here with us. He taught us all about unconditional love and trust. Amtoo was a sweet and gentle being and will never be forgotten.
