I left a message on your voice mail, but wanted to follow-up with an e-mail. I have looking for a boxer to adopt for about 3 months. I was on the waiting list at San Clemente Animal Shelter twice, but the first was adopted by the foster parent, and the second had a long list in which I was 4th in line. Are you open on Sunday? If so, what hours? What is the cost to adopt? Thanks, Lisa Russell

For those of you reading this...I have to tell you what an awesome job this rescue is doing for the Boxer breed!! We just recently lost our precious boxer "harley." It was such an unexpected eath and really hit our family HARD!! I emailed Ursula and the out pouring of concern and love was overwhelming! Ursula, and her staff have been awesome in our grieving process.

The good news is we did adopt a beautiful male flashy brindle from Bay Area Boxer Rescue, (they take overflow for LA Boxer Rescue) we named him Charles and he has become so much a part of our lives in such a short period of time. We love our Charles so incredibly much and we are so grateful for the Rescue efforts of everyone involved!! Boxers are a blessing!!! Thanks Ursula and everyone who gives their precious time!!

Your website is wonderful. We currently 1 male boxer that is 3 1/2 years old. A total love. We will be looking to adopt, as our other 2 dogs are both 15 years old. He will definitely need a buddy. We used to have 2 male boxers. Luke passed on last May. Butch has a real special place in our hearts as well. Thanks again. Keep up the good work!

Hey, I'm just writing to say how I happy I am to see how people turn around their lives to look after the mistreated dogs of this mixed up world. I'm 14 and I have devoted my time to looking after dogs. Recently I have been devoting my time looking after a five week old puppy who was placed in a box and put out for the rubbish. She has a number of burns and scars after been left in her own mess, she is suffering from major weight loss and dehydration. I have owned a number of boxers, at the moment a boxer dog named Nazeem Hammed, who is 8 months old. He is successful in obediance and agility traning and now going into showing . Any tips?

My parents recently purchased a Boxer puppy, a white female, whom they named Kimba, from someone who had bred her female boxer to the male boxer next door. Kimba is deaf. My parents are very disappointed, and they are thinking about giving her away. The problem is that it is very difficult to train her. She's about 3 1/2 months old, and I was wondering two things: First, is deafness a common problem with white boxers? And second, are there special training methods, or a school that specializes in training deaf dogs? I'm trying to convince them to keep her, and really, I know they don't want to get rid of her, and they might keep her if she could be trained. Any help you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lorena

Dear Ursula, Thank you so much for bringing "Elton" and "Roxanne" into my life. I adopted one boxer six years ago and the other five years ago. My oldest one, "Elton" was recently diagnosed with Lympho-Sarcoma and on February 25, 2000 we put him to sleep, that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I LOVED HIM SO MUCH!!!! However, I'm worried about my other boxer because she seems so sad. I thought I couldn't get another dog so soon, but seeing Roxanne mope around the house pulls at my heart strings. Can you help us again?? Michelle Paganini

I have been the happy boxer owner of Bruno which I rescued two years ago. He has been a constant joy, playful and so full of love. People laugh to hear I have a 65 lb. lap dog that loves to play with his soft stuffed toys, especially his big panda bear which he cuddles with on his blanket and takes for rides with in the car. I have owned other breeds of dogs, but never have I felt the love and sincere devotion Bruno gives our family. Your organization gave Bruno another chance and our family a whole lot of love. Thank you.

I have had four boxers in my lifetime. I love your site. The next time I grace my life with another boxer I have decided it will be your place I come to. And I feel like the owners of Zeus. I want to find an older boxer that really needs a home. I loved all my boxers when they were pups but I have had personal experience with trying to find home for a pet after my Mother passed away. It was that experience that made me realize next boxer would be an adult dog in need for a home to live out its life. I am so glad for your site and your devotion!! Keep up the good work!!

We adopted Bailey "the Boxer" from this Boxer Rescue and she is just a wonderful dog. She is an 8 month old that is so full of energy and our three boys just love her. She has become a wonderful part of our family and is an excellent friend to have. I can't say enought about this rescue and all the work that Ursula and her helpers do at the rescue. We had an A+ experience with them and I hope that anyone thinking about adopting will go and visit the rescue and find a friend for your family. Sincerely, Linda Baca and Family

Boxer Rescue l.A.-

I found your sight by accident today and glad I did. I just got my first boxer 2 months ago (a little girl, fawn w/ black mask named "frau") and have loved her company ever since. She is a constant ray of light in my house and never fails to amuse us. I am glad that there is a place like yours to save these wonderful dogs.

sincerely-- nicole cummings

My husband and I have a 2-year old female boxer. We have a small fenced in yard and you can tell by looking at it that we have a dog. We often think about getting another dog and have decided that when we do, we would like to adopt a boxer. I don't know if our current accommodations are big enough for two dogs, especially because our first is very active, but we still consider the possibility. I appreciate the work that your organization is doing and plan to contact you when we area ready.

Hello. I am from Concepcion, Chile. I have 2 boxers; Rudolf, a beautful 1year old male and Danka a little 2.5 months old female. The are my best friends, as I live alone with them in a small town outside Concepcion. I love boxers, and I would like to get in touch with people who share this passion with me. My Dad has a white boxer (Chick-O). He is getting old but is still as lovely as always. Hoping to hear from you soon Fernando

My husband and I are currently in Greece working, but we are from San Clemente, Calif., when we left last year to come to Greece we gave our German Shepherd and Pit Bull mix to family and friends it was very hard for us, but living in Greece, we were not sure the animals would be happy here to much concrete living for them! They were used to yards not apartments.

When arriving in Greece we noticed the terrible amount of street dogs living here. They do not get these animals fixed and they just keep reproducing, we were both saddened by this. To make a long story short, we weren't going to get a pet, but i had received a call from a friend i had met here that two dogs had been found outside a supermarket and it was snowing, one they said was a boxer and the other a bullmastiff. The friend took these animals to a shelter where they have over 100 animals and that night the bullmastiff died of a heart condition. The other dog the boxer, was so saddened by the loss of his companion that he would not let anyone go near the carcass.

As it turns out I took this boxer in, 2 weeks after they had found it and when he came to our home he was very thin, he is brindle in coloring. The people at the rescue told me the dog was 3 years old or so, but after 3 weeks of having him, he developed stiffness in the leg and i took him for blood tests with the vet and he told me the dog was around 8 years old with a tick illness called Elichiios(spelling not right sorry). We thought we were going to loose him, he is weak from this illness but we are treating currently with heavy antibiotics and he has started to eat again, thank goodness.

I love this dog, he is a gentle giant and i am so glad that we are trying to do everything we can to help him and make him comfortable, he has had a hard life you can tell, but he is very well manuered and also has a language barrier he only knows Greek!!

Just wanted to share my thoughts with all of you..

Boxers are the greatest!!! Not that pretty a mug, but beautiful dog. I will try and send a picture of him sometimes soon, his name is Max

Very Beautiful site. As a newly adopted owner of an absolutely wonderful boxer, we have been spending even more time looking at the works of other rescue programs. Our boxer selected us out of one of the Boxer Rescue programs in Alberta, and it has been one of the greatest things to happen in our lives.

We hope that your works of wonder are able to continue to make other wonderful boxers very happy with their adoption of new families.

If you are considering adopting: I lost my boxer Nelson (Rockefeller because of his rich character)in August and have spent some time preparing to adopt my 2nd from boxer rescue. To get my boxer fix in the meantime I've gone to the Rescue kennels to walk the many dogs, they are so thankful and happy for the time on a walk and it has kept me satiated until I could adopt again. The kennels of Boxer Rescue are near Burbank and volunteers are heros to the dogs!

We drove 3 hrs. to get him and the director drove over 5 hrs. We truly appreciate the efforts made by NBR. I have enjoyed reading your web site. Just curious...are the 4 contest winners' stories printed anywhere? Love to read them.

Hi Ursula,

Just wanted to let you know Sequoia has adjusted very well. She seems to have gotten rid of her kennel cough and I took her to the Animal Clinic last wed. to have her stitches removed. She and Bruno both sleep on the floor on doggy cushions next to my side of the bed and the last two days, Sequoia has felt the need to cuddle with me in the early morning hours until I get up, then when Jon gets up to go to the office, Bruno hops up on the other side of me. Sequoia is eating very well, absolutely loves Bruno (gives him kisses and plays tug-of-war with his toys). She is a love and I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to foster her. It has been so good for Bruno also.
