Faith and Joe

faith

Faith and her brother Joe Schmoe were left behind in the backyard by their family when they moved due to foreclosure.

The neighbors were watching to see if anyone was going to come back for them. One day Faith would not get up anymore and was moaning so the neighbors called animal control. Why they waited so long is beyond me.

These two poor Boxers had been left with no food or water. Both are starved and their bodies reflect this terribly. Exposed without shelter to rain and the freezing cold. Both Faith and Joe have swollen bleeding skin from mange and parasitic infections.

When animal control arrived they were laying in five inches of water not moving.

Crying the animal control officer carried Faith into the San Bernardino hospital. Faith was considered dead when she arrived. No temperature, her eyes were rolled back in her head, but with love and medical care she survived and is fighting to survive.

Faith weighs 36 pounds but should weigh at least 80 pounds. Joe weighs 65 but should weigh over 100 pounds.

Who could do this to these sweet animals? The proper steps are being taken to find the owner and press charges.

Please help Boxer Rescue and Tazzy Fund continue to offer the best medical care available to these dogs they need to stay in the hospital as long as they need to.

Update 7/8/08:Faith has gained 10 pounds in one week. The bad news is sheis developing an upper respiratory infection and the concern is pneumonia. Keepin mind Faith was found laying in five inches of water after the horrible rainstorms close to death. Today it is a miracle she is alive and she is fighting. She had another bath today and seems to enjoy the rubbing and touching againsther poor itchy skin. She was let out today in a side yard with Joe Schmoe and they lit up when they saw each other. Joe is doing well. He is gaining weight and even found his voice today and barked at another dog. He wants to be with his sister but she is too sick so they get to see each other for short time periods in the yard. The hospital said it will cost a minimum of $5000 to treat these dogs and get them healthy. They will stay in the hospital for at least two to three more weeks. Please spread the word to help raise donations.

PEDRO

PEDpedro

Pedro was attacked by two dogs. The injury to his shoulder became grossly infected going into the bone. We believe the infection is clear but caused major damage as the shoulder is growing and twisting his body. Dr. Shulman will go in and see if he can repair it at all if not he will need to amputate the front leg and a good portion of the shoulder to relieve Pedro of pain and discomfort.

Pedro update 1/16/08: Pedro's injuries were not reversable and his leg and part of his shoulder were amputated. He is recovering well and will soon be on his feet, all three of them. His medical bills will be just short of $2000.

Pedro is doing great in his foster home and will be ready for adoption in a few weeks.

Chester has whats called a subluxation of the Meta Tarsol. More simply he has a fracture in the foot joint in his back leg. This causes slipping of the toes and possible breaks to them as well. He will need a plate and pins to secure foot and joint.   Poor Chester will be in a cast for four months to ensure proper healing and to walk normally.

Chester update 1/17/08. Chester's surgery was a success and he is resting comfortably. He has a wonderful foster home set up for his long recovery. His surgery was $3000.00
