HAPPY ENDINGS: Rocky & Mick

Two Boxers are better than one!!

After a year without a dog in my life it was time. We were however expecting my first grandchild so I had to choose the breed carefully. My husband had grown up with Boxers and convinced me that this was the breed for a household with small children.

I work full time and don't realistically have the time or energy for a puppy. I have always had a 2 dog household and was worried that being gone all day wouldn't really even be fair to an older dog.

So the search began. I went to the Bay Area Boxer Rescue Web site and from there linked to LA Boxer Rescue. It was there I ran across Rocky and Striper the most adorable mushy faced boys I'd ever seen. 2 years old and still a bundle of energy. It was love at first sight, but was I crazy? I checked back day after day until I finally applied for adoption.

Memorial Day weekend of last year I hopped in my truck and made the 6 hour drive to LA.. When I met the boys there was no doubt they were to be the 2 newest members of my family.

Rocky and Striper (Now named Mick) hadn't been in the house much so family life was new to them. But they adapted quickly and were completely housebroken and crate trained within 2 weeks. The hardest part was getting them into separate crates!! They are so bonded that they often move together at the exact same time and seem to finish each others thoughts.

And each day when I leave for work I know that they have each other to play with and they will never be lonely. They sleep with me every night and I couldn't imagine watching TV without the boys curled up next to me. My granddaughter has since been born and they have "adopted" her as their own, especially Rocky. When she is not here they pace in circles and sniff around looking for her. They stand guard at her bassinet and if she even makes a whimper they make sure someone knows about it!! And when she cry's...they cry to.

I can't imagine what they would do without each other and I'm so thankful that they will never need to be apart. They are thankful to and show it every day with zillions of kisses and hugs (yes, they hug us!) Around here we call it "The Rocky and Mick show"

Anyone who is considering adopting one of these amazing animals I can guarantee a pair will double your fun and you will be blessed by double the love.
