Hello!
On January 10th of this year
my husband and I took a trip to hopefully rescue a boxer from
you - we had our hearts set on a little girl we found on your
website. When we got there, we met her and she was a LOT to
handle, even for experienced dog people! When we thought that
it may not happen, "it" being that we wouldn't be
leaving with a dog, we got pretty emotional - being that we've
wanted to get a dog for years, but always ended up with landlords
that didn't like the idea. At one point during our stay, a
woman was walking across the street with a 2-3 year old girl
boxer, she rescued this girl from you in August ( her name
then was "Lizzie") and was returning her to the
shelter because her adopted son became allergic - she had
named "lizzie" to "Shakespeare". My husband
saw this girl, immediately bonded with her and said to me"
I can't let her go back into the shelter, she's used to a
couch now" - so one hour of playing and a $200 donation
later, the 3 of us were back in the car on our way to Pet
Smart.
Adopting a rescue dogs has been
the most satisfying thing I've ever done, I think she has
had 3 homes so far, but at least this one will be her last.
We love her so much, maybe too much, but every day is so fun
having a boxer around - her new tricks and sounds and endless
kisses and "rump" shaking (with that little nubbie
tail) keeps us laughing and loving her more ever day.
Here are some pictures from the
day we rescued her, and some of her now, a few moths later.
She's put needed weight on, and her coat is beautiful.
Btw, we rescued her on 1/10/0-4
- just so happened to be my birthday - so since that is her
rescue date, that's officially her birthday now. :)
THANK you for everything you
do!
Best,
Beth Pearcey Neal

PS - the first three are from
her adoption day - the last 2 are her now - look at the pretty
coat and the weight she finally put on! Her new name is Gibney-
she's named after a beautiful beach in St. John, USVI.
