My husband and I brought Benny home in October
of 2001. He was skinny...45 lbs skinny. His ribs were sticking
out...a lot! He was picked up from a local shelter and was
apparently in a fight. He had half of one ear bitten off and
oodles of stitches from the neck up from the same incident.
Needless to say, we were concerned, but once we took him for
a walk, we knew this little guy was for us.
He has been with us for for 4 years now. I never imagined
that I could love this guy as much as I do. He wakes me up
in the morning by putting his front paws up on the bed and
blowing snot in my face. And yes, I still love him! We moved
to Colorado and he is, through and through, a California dog.
Hates the snow. We bought him booties and he's perfectly content
with wearing them.
We introduced another rescue puppy last year and Benny was
and still is the best big brother. He lets the puppy chew
on him. And to this day, Benny is hands down the best at napping
on the couch with his Mom! It's a win-win!
