It is normal for a dog that finds they are now homeless and living in a kennel situation to be afraid. Jake was more than afraid, he was terrified. He was so frightened that no one could get close to him or even enter his enclosure. His whole body shook and he would even strike out in fear. Our amazing staff gave him lots of space and with never-ending patience they won him over. Jake now enjoys going for walks with our volunteers. He engages in playtime with our staff and he is a different dog.
Having never faced such a different situation before in his life, fear was the only reaction Jake knew. He has now come to trust BRLA and the people involved. He is a handsome little guy with wonderful leash manners. We feel a home with older children for now would be best for Jake. He is fine around calm dogs but he is still gaining his confidence so only calm dogs for now. We don’t want too much too soon for our newly reborn Jake.
Given just a little time to settle and with someone who understands the sensitive nature of a Boxer and is confident, this little boy will be a fantastic companion with or without other pets in the home. With Jake, all you need is love and good leadership.
